Prime Minister Maria Benvinda Levi, representing President of the Republic Daniel Chapo, inaugurated days ago in Maputo the country's first School of Public Health (ESP), considered a strategic infrastructure for the training of personnel, the enhancement of health research, and the strengthening of the National Health System.

On the occasion, Maria Benvinda Levi stated that the new school represents an investment in the qualification of professionals, allowing the country to produce its own knowledge and develop solutions tailored to the national reality.

The creation of the School of Public Health is the result of cooperation between the National Institute of Health and the Oswaldo Cruz Foundation (Fiocruz), with support from Spanish Cooperation, the United Nations, the Global Fund, the World Bank, and the Government of the United States of America.

The President of Fiocruz, Mário Moreira, highlighted that the partnership with Mozambique goes beyond technical assistance and is based on mutual learning and the promotion of social justice. Meanwhile, the Minister of Health, Ussene Isse, emphasized that the infrastructure will strengthen continuous training, research, and the capacity to respond to the country's health challenges.

For his part, the Minister of Health of Brazil, Alexandre Padilha, stated that the inauguration symbolizes the strength of the cooperation between Mozambique and Brazil. The Representative of Spanish Cooperation, Patrícia Muriel, noted that Spanish support for the initiative is part of a partnership with Mozambique built over more than 40 years.

The ceremony was also attended by representatives of the diplomatic corps, cooperation partners, and guests. On the occasion, memoranda of understanding were signed to strengthen training, innovation, and technological development in digital health.
