The functions of the School of Public Health are:

• to contribute to the training, development, and continuous improvement of human resources for health;
• to design, coordinate, and ensure the technical, administrative, and academic implementation of INS training programs, including planning, logistics, enrollment, certification, monitoring, and reporting;
• to conduct postgraduate courses in the area of ​​public health and related fields for health professionals, in coordination with higher education institutions in accordance with current legislation;
• to conduct short courses in the area of ​​public health and related fields for health professionals;
• to implement the Medical Residency in Public Health and other specialized training programs as determined, in coordination with the Colleges of the Order of Physicians of Mozambique;
• to coordinate the implementation and supervision of the Training Academy in Health Management and Leadership, ensuring its integration into the national training system;
• to manage the academic secretariat, administrative processes, and databases of trainees, trainers, mentors, and consultants;
• To ensure the pedagogical and scientific quality of the training programs of the School of Public Health;
• To promote the use of digital technologies, pedagogical innovation, and hybrid teaching modalities in public health training;
• To generate scientific evidence on public health training, produce technical reports and impact analyses of the training carried out, and support decision-making;
• To promote the development and improvement of human resources at INS and the Unified Health System, including the preparation of annual and multi-year training and capacity-building plans;
• To cooperate with national and foreign scientific institutions and international development support agencies, promoting the training and mentoring of national researchers, trainers, and technicians;
• To identify and mobilize resources to finance training opportunities and the technical-scientific development of human capital;
• To consolidate community outreach as an institutional function of INS, promoting structured articulation between teaching, health services, and community intervention;
• To contribute to the development, implementation, and review of policies for training and developing human resources in public health; and
• Perform other duties as may be assigned.
